An aspiring restauranteur and his wife emigrate from Italy to start a family and build their dream. Six children later, the year is 1925, the restaurant is a family business and Elena, at ten, is her mother’s right arm. With the tragic death of her beloved baby sister, while under her care, Elena must overcome her feelings of despairing guilt. She discovers true love in Eddie and the hope of joy in the midst of heartache.
